“Passages” in the Residency Space at OPAL

  • Oak Park Art League 720 Chicago Ave Oak Park, IL 60302 (map)

My work is currently installed in the Residency Space at the Oak Park Art League. I have three ceramic works on view which explore the sensorial and spatial qualities of being, how form, material, and texture can hold the feeling of place. Each piece is an individual meditation on grounding: the moment of arriving, settling, or becoming attuned to one’s surroundings. Through shifts in surface, weight, and gesture, the clay, metal and fiber carry traces of touch and time, capturing the tension between stillness and movement, fragility and strength. In each of these three works, materiality becomes a language of presence. The surface holds memory, of pressure, heat, and the slow transformation from malleable to solid. The exhibition is available for viewing during regular business hours of the Art League, Thursday & Friday 1-5 pm, Saturday 10-4 pm and Sunday 1-4 pm.
